High quality asparagus spears are dark green and firm with tightly closed and compact tips.

Stems should be straight, tender and glossy in appearance. Green butts are generally more tender than white butts.

Spears should be stored with a moist pad against the butt end to retain firmness in a cold refrigerator for up to 14 days.

Swiss chard leaves should be separated from stems (if not using together).

The stems should be refrigerated in a plastic bag for up to 12 days.
